Social Security Blue Book Disability Listings

The Blue Book is term for Social Security “Listings,” automatic medical criteria which, if enough symptoms are shown, will result in an automatic finding of disability. The listings are organized over psychiatric and physical conditions. That being said, it is important to ask your attorney whether or not you fit within a listing for your conditions. Pulmonary, cardiac, orthopedic, sensory, and many other illnesses/diseases are represented in the listings.

For example, if an individual is suffering from a severe seizure disorder and has one conic-clonic seizure per month for three consecutive months, they will automatically be found disabled, assuming they can document the activity.

Social Security disability is an important safety net available to individuals who have a physical or mental disability that prevents them from being able to return to work. If you have paid Social Security taxes, you may be entitled to Social Security disability insurance (SSDI). SSDI can provide you with monthly benefits and ongoing medical care if you are no longer able to work due to your disability.

It is common to be denied Social Security disability benefits on the first application. Do not give up. Contact James F. Aspell, P.C. and speak with  a lawyer experienced with Social Security disability claims. We will help you prepare all the necessary paperwork and information related to Social Security disability benefits. Our Connecticut Social Security Disability Lawyers work with medical specialists who can document your disability and offer testimony on your behalf.
